About

TACKLE PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our tackle organization focuses on developing young athletes in a safe, supportive, and structured environment while teaching the fundamentals of the game. We are committed to making football a positive experience for every player, focusing on building self-esteem and a sense of community and family in our organization. Your child will learn teamwork, discipline, selflessness, perseverance, and accountability which will help them become more well-rounded individuals on and off the field.

Registration Fee

  • $325 General Registration (April 16th- June 30th)

Additional Fees

Approximately $50 for Custom Jersey (to be collected at later date)

Teams

We have opened registration for teams at the 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, and 13U levels.  Your player's age as of 7/1 of this year will determine the team rostered for this coming season.  There is a minimum of 18 players needed per team to have a season.   Each team is capped at 36 players. Third graders who have played one season of Flex may register to play on the 9U tackle team if parents feel they are ready for tackle.

Paperwork & REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Our league is part of the Central Mass Youth Football and Cheer Conference (CMYFCC) which is affiliated with the American Youth Football (AYF) League.   AYF is the world's largest youth football and cheer league.    Being part of this conference/league requires us to follow certain policies and procedures for insurance purposes.   The following paperwork will need to be submitted to play:

  • Birth Certificates:  First-time participants must submit a certified birth certificate to show proof of age
  • AYF Player Packet:   Required paperwork, provided upon registration
  • Physical/Medical Clearance:   A recent physical or medical clearance is needed to participate

Coaching & Safety

  • Certified Coaches: All coaches complete extensive annual safety and coaching certifications, including concussion awareness, bullying prevention, and football fundamentals.
  • CPR & First Aid Certified: We require EVERY tackle coach to be certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Commitment to Safety: We go above and beyond the required safety protocols, investing in top-of-the-line safety equipment for the players in our program, and extensive safety training for our coaches and volunteers. We require players to wear helmet guardians in every practice and teach proper technique and fundamentals in a controlled environment before players engage in direct contact.
  • Did you know it's safer to start playing at a young age? There have been rumors going around that it's safer to wait until players are closer to high school age to start playing tackle. This couldn't be further from the truth! The older ages assume players have learned safety fundamentals. The younger teams spend a tremendous amount of time learning fundamentals when their bodies are small and low to the ground!

Equipment & Uniforms

Unlike other sport and even football leagues from several other towns, NSYFCA still supplies, at great cost, the bulk of the protective equipment for our athletes.

As a player you will be loaned the following:

  • Football Helmet with Chin Strap and Guardian (practice helmet protector)
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Practice Jersey

*** All items will need to be returned at the end of the season.  If items are lost or damaged, the parent or guardian will be responsible for repaying the league.   Approximate cost for all items is $465.
